JOHN C. LOWE
John Lowe was a trial lawyer in general practice in Charlottesville, Virginia, before joining the intellectual property law firm of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, L.L.P. in Washington, D.C., in 1992, where he was a partner specializing in patent, trademark, and copyright cases. He is a member of the Patent Bar of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
He retired early as a partner at Finnegan Henderson in 2003 in order to return to practice in his own firm, John Lowe , P.C. , with a broad civil practice base not limited to intellectual property cases. He is licensed in D.C., VA, MD, and NC, and is admitted to practice before numerous federal district courts and federal appeals courts.
He has served as lead counsel in more than 100 jury trials taken to verdict, has been lead appellate counsel in over 20 appeals. Mr. Lowe argued and won the landmark case of Bigelow v. Virginia in the Supreme Court of the United States , where he is a member of the Supreme Court Bar.
Education
Mr. Lowe holds a B.S. in Research Chemistry from Lehigh University and a law degree ( J.D. ) from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville , Virginia .
He has taught trial tactics at the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia School of Law since 1979 and at the Northwestern University School of Law since 1972. He has taught deposition techniques with NITA deposition training teams at Finnegan Henderson two to three times each year since 1984.
