Russell Carparelli is a Judge of the Colorado Court of Appeals in February 2003. He has more than 30 years experience as a litigator, trial attorney, trial judge, appellate judge and mediator. He served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force and retired in 1990 in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. Between 1990 and 2003, he was in private practice in the Denver area at Bradley, Campbell, Carney & Madsen, P.C., Kissinger & Fellman, P.C., and Messner & Reeves, LLC.

While in the Air Force, Russ served in a variety of roles including defender, prosecutor, trial judge, appellate judge, civil litigator and counsel to the Air Force senior staff. In private practice Russ represented international, national and small businesses and successfully litigated and negotiated resolutions to disputes in many contexts including contracts, environmental clean-up, insurance coverage, aviation, real estate development, government contracts, commercial paper, employment, business ownership, and personal injury.

Russ has also taught and lectured on negotiation, trial advocacy, environmental law and insurance coverage. He has also served in various leadership roles as a member of the American Bar Association with particular emphasis on dispute resolution.

Russ holds degrees from the University of Virginia School of Law, the University of Denver College of Law and the U.S. Air Force Academy.
