JOHN BATTAGLIA
John Battaglia was recently appointed Deputy Associate Attorney General in the United States Department of Justice, where he helps oversee and manage all of the Justice Department's civil litigation, in matters ranging from antitrust, tax and complex commercial litigation to anti-discrimination, habeas and environmental claims. Before that, he was a partner and associate at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, residing in its Washington, DC office, where he focused on patent trials and other complex federal litigation. In addition to publishing on federal patent litigation, Mr. Battaglia served as a law clerk both in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, clerking for the Honorable William T. Prince, and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, clerking for the Honorable Paul R. Michel. He graduated cum laude in 1997 from the Boston College Law School, and also received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Boston College in 1992. Immediately following law school, Mr. Battaglia was a trial lawyer in the Department of Justice's Honors Program, successfully handling numerous bench trials. He is also a proud graduate of National Trial Advocacy College.
